Tutorial to evaluate water consumption on forested / deforested zones

Quick tutorial to assess the water consumption by vegetation depending on the vegetation type. The area of interest has an extension of 0.4° Degrees N-S and 0.6° Degrees E-W. The coordinates of the area of interest are: N:-8.4°,W:-75.2°,S:-8.8°,-74.6°.


The datasets for this tutorial come from MODIS Dataproducts: MCD12Q1 and MOD16.

The area of interest is located on the rectangle h10 v09 from the MODIS global grid. The selected for this study was 2013. The Land Cover Type Description for the MCD12Q1 was LAI/fPAR (Type 3)



This tutorial covers:
- Import of the raster layers
- Save rasters with SRC WGS84 (both ET and Land Cover), notice: raster resolution
- Cut Land Cover raster to the selected polygon
- Polygonize the Land Cover raster
- Convert Land Cover polygon from single part to multipart
- Zonal Statistics with Actual ET and the Multipart Land Cover Polygonize
- Analyze Results
